BMF Taos' Zeppelin wins Color Champion
at the 2009 Fallfest Fleece Show!

Since 2004, Bucks Meadow Alpaca Farm has been producing full Peruvian Accoyo alpacas. Our focus and breeding philosophy is simple and straight forward…produce high quality animals known for fineness, crimp and density. Furthermore, our animals must exhibit proper conformation and phenotype.

Our crias to date have achieved this goal and the fiber statistics help validate our progress. We believe fleece improvement should be the goal for all farms and Bucks Meadow Alpaca Farm is committed to contributing to this goal.

There will always be room for improvement and our farm will continue to work each year at improving our own herd.

Genetic selection is critical and we have carefully selected proven genetics as our foundation herd. Our experience has been that blending proven genetics sometimes does not produce the desired outcome. In most case it takes several years in order to determine the “right” combination in which predictable crimp and fineness is achieved. We have reached this conclusion with several of our animals and are proud to share the results with you. Check out our fiber stats and you can see for your self the consistency that our breeding program has achieved.

Our farm will only attend a few local shows a year and therefore we do not receive the publicity as other farms that do. We also choose to market at a minimum and we are ok with that. All of our animals have performed very well in the show ring or fleece competitions when entered. Our success has been a result of our animals winning at shows and most importantly from word of mouth. Once you get your hands on our animals you will appreciate the crimpy feel and fineness.

As of today, availability is limited and we will only release a few animals each year. This is because our herd is kept small in order to be selective with our breeding decisions. Quality is more important then quantity for our farm, plus it sure makes farm management a lot easier!

Thank you for spending time with Bucks Meadow Alpaca Farm and call or email us for a farm visit or fiber samples. We strongly encourage it and we are confident that you will be pleased with the results.

Best Regards, Dave and Julie Wroblewski
